We are getting ready to go.......

Hello Team NOLA,

As Tropical Storm Bonnie passed over us today, the folks at Project Homecoming in New Orleans were watching carefully. It appears that the storm will not be bad or have any real effect on our work, so we are planning to head to New Orleans as originally planned. Kevin, Director of Operations, said today that the worst he expects is rain on Monday which could conceivably keep us from doing as much work as planned. Kevin has already assigned us to two projects; hanging sheetrock and repairs from the subfloor to roof at another home.

So we’re on schedule. We’ll leave from Moorings at 5:00 a.m. Sunday. Please be there a little early to load up. We’ll stop to pick up Skip and Nancy in Ft. Myers and we’ll be heading for the Big Easy.

Rev. Jim Kirk will have liturgical duties at Moorings on Sunday morning so he will fly up to meet us. Laura and Alex will drive from Chicago to meet us in New Orleans. For those of you who have not heard, our Team Leaders, Matt and Katie sadly will not be able to be in New Orleans with us. Matt’s dad died unexpectedly Monday morning and they have family duties in Ohio. That means there will be only 7 of us in a big diesel van, so there is plenty of room for anything you want to bring. (I hope someone is bringing a guitar or harmonica.)
